Vijaydurg & Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue Malvan
We planned to visit Vijaydurg and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue in Malvan on 28th Dec. We had to start early as the total round trip was a 400kms round trip and I was the only driver.

We decided to take the Gaganbawda Road and through Vaibhavwadi reach Vijaydurg first.
The Gaganbavda Ghat is full of tight twists and turns and also known for shooting rocks (small rocks keep falling).
Post the ghat section, couple of our family members were feeling dizzy due to the ghat turns so we stopped at Vaibhavwadi and took a small break, post which we continued through Padel towards Vijaydurg.

That day there were a lot of school kids at Vijaydurg as part of a study tour for them.
You will get to see a 4 layered security system around the fort closer to land and also used as part of the port for Vijaydurg. The 1st layer was used as a place where ships could anchor and use it to goods loading and unloading. The 2nd layer was much tighter and could be used to have small canon around the fort for which one can see a triangular shapes. The 3rd layer was 15-20ft taller and the 4th layer was close to 35ft taller.

We took our own time exploring the fort and covered the entire circumference of the fort.

We were done going through the fort and then moved to the other side of the fort towards the beach.
We finished enjoying and witnessing Vijaydurg and its beach and post 7pm headed straight to Malvan to witness another spectacle of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj StatueChhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue - Rajkot Fort Malvan
We travelled non-stop from Vijaydurg to Malvan to witness the spectacle built before it closes for the day as the maps showed that it closes at 9.30pm IST. We reached there by 9pm IST and the view was awesome. The statue stands 91 feet tall, including a 10-foot pedestrian base, making it the tallest statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in India. Renowned sculptor Ram Sutar’s company executed the project.
With a packed and relentless day where we covered more than 450kms total, it was very fulfilling. We reached home at 3am IST in the morning the next day but it was worth the experience.
