Trek Gangs of Visapur & Lohgad
A trek planned by the Org to Visapur and Lohgad.
New Org New Environment
It had been 6 months and and I had left my previous job due to better opportunity and my entire career shifted from night shifts to day shifts. I have moved up the ladder from night shift business development and email marketing work to Presales - Bid Management role. In the new org it was like a different vibe with the org stressing on having a better employee culture. One of the activity that the org encouraged was Trekking and they had a Corp Group which was run by the employees themselves called as the Trek Unlimited Group.
Getting your participation booked
I requested the HRD team to add me to the mail list of the Trek Unlimited Group. Come monsoon the Trek Unlimited Group got active and out came the plan for a weekend (Saturday) trek to Lohagad and Visapur. It was a first come first serve request and you had to visit the specified SPOCs to pay for your seat. We had to pay out cash hence we had to make a run for the ATM in office premises and then to the SPOC.
Getting ready for the trek
2 days prior to the day of the trek, we received the mails of instructions and what all we need to pack in our back packs. It explained very well the do's and don'ts including footwear. It also provided the instructions on boarding trains as we had to travel via local train to the station of Malavli.
Beginning of trek
I boarded the train at Akurdi railway station. We were given the instructions on which boggie we had to enter to meet other participants of the trek. After a brief round of introduction in the train we all got down at Malavli station. We all gathered together and crossing the railway station crossing we started our trek.

We were given instructions to wear good shoes and full trousers which would help while climbing and also from another reason like snakes. We witnessed our 1st snake, Russel Viper one of the most poisonous snake in the world. It was a small baby, but it was potent enough.

Climbing to Lohagad
While climbing we got to see some past canons which were kept lying around before the beginning of the fort.
I could not carry my DSLR that day due to constant and heavy rains which could damage the camera. Hence I clicked pics on my Samsung S3
Post completing the Lohgad fort trek, we had to move towards Visapur.
Climb to Visapur
When I was in college and completing my grads, I had visited the fort last at that time. It had been 6 years post that where I was visiting this fort again.
The climb to Visapur is through the waterfall route and it is a adventurous and difficult route to take as one is always in water while climbing.
The climb is inclined and sometime difficult as well.
Post clicking pics on the fort, we decided to return to Malavli through the ladder route which was the other side of the Visapur Fort.
We got a little lost at the end of the trail due to heavy rain and dense forest and the lead team not able to find the path, but with the help of villagers, we were able to find the route which helped us descend down to the road and then walk till Malavli Station.
